TIA has worked on a variety of EDI training and consultation projects with clients in the UK, which include: Exeter Phoenix, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Natural England, Exeter Northcott Theatre, Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Lush Cosmetics, South West Heritage Trust, With Flying Colours (Plymouth), 'a space' Arts Southampton, the University of Bristol, and the University of West England (UWE).
Thinking about Equality, Diversity & Inclusion through an anti-racist lens with Exeter Phoenix
We created a day’s EDI training session with staff at the Phoenix, exploring anti-racism and working with Black/global majority creatives in a southwest setting. The team provided us with real-life case studies which we included as part of the training, workshopping the scenarios and exploring solutions together.

‘Listening Circles’ with Natural England
TIA worked with the Transformation Team at Natural England to run listening circles for staff and leadership in EDI networks. One of the main outcomes was to gather evidence of individuals' lived experience at Natural England to shape future EDI action plans. TIA produced a report which has been shared across the organisation.
Creating an Equalities Action Plan with the South West Heritage Trust (Taunton)
TIA worked with the South West Heritage Trust to refresh and rewrite their Equalities Action Plan by running consultation sessions with staff and leadership teams. Their thoughts, ideas and actions fed into the Trust’s strategic development plan.
‘Embracing Difference’ training co-created with ‘With Flying Colours’ (Plymouth)
TIA worked with an exceptional team of artists and performers to co-create bespoke EDI training. It was highlighted that artists felt the need for support with their EDI practice, as well as the time to share their experiences. As a result, TIA held 'reflective' sessions over the following academic year.
Consultation with ‘a space’ arts to support them in becoming an anti-racist organisation (Southampton)
Working through an anti-racist lens, TIA helped staff and trustees reflect on their organisation, develop inclusive language and agree actions on their journey to becoming an anti-racist organisation.
Where Are You Really From?
TIA delivered the Where are you really from? project during 2020, which told stories of ethnically diverse people living in the South West and other rural parts of the UK. The project is now housed on a website which acts as a hub for poetry, biographies, films, and podcasts.
The University of Bristol Student Diversity Engagement Project
In 2018 TIA worked with The University of Bristol (UoB) to deliver a Student Diversity Engagement Project. They held focus groups with ethnically diverse and female students to discuss their perspective on student life, identifying barriers to learning. Their findings were used to inform bespoke EDI & anti-racism training.
EDI Training with University of Bristol and The University of West England (UWE)
Findings from The University of Bristol Student Diversity Engagement Project were used to inform and deliver further EDI training to over 200 staff and students online and face-to-face from the University of Bristol and the University of West England (UWE), on ‘race’ and ethnicity; gender and sexism and mental health and wellbeing.
Website Diversity Review for the University of West England (UWE)
As part of their ongoing support of UWE, TIA helped review FARSCOPE CDT’s (Centre for Doctoral Training in Future Autonomous and Robotic Systems) website producing a report with recommendations for updating language, images and messaging promoting EDI.
TIA offered our staff team two bespoke training sessions that built our team’s collective confidence around using inclusive language. The sessions were insightful, informative and delivered in a friendly, encouraging and engaging way - following their training we have been able to confidently develop and deliver new activities.
Daniel Crow, Director of a space arts, Southampton
Louisa and Louise are both so accommodating, flexible and professional in their approach. They were able to facilitate and deliver Listening Circles for us in exactly the way we wanted and have produced a fantastic report alongside recommendations that we can take forward. We will definitely be using then again in the future and cannot recommend them enough.
